MBC Field Trip to Appleton Farms

We enjoyed wandering through the meadows at Appleton Farms in Ipswich.  We were pleasantly surprised to find a mating pair of Silver-Bordered Fritillaries within minutes.  These were the best sighting of the day.

Appleton Farms has some really beautiful tree-lined roads, and any and all shade was delightful on this very hot day.

Peck's Skipper

 Bobolink

The cows were crowding around the best grass, and this one was stuck between two others, trying to nudge its way in without much luck.

 Red-Winged Blackbird (female)
