Breakneck Hill Conservation Land

Today was a rather uninspiring day for nature because of the weather.  It was foggy, misty and/or rainy almost all day long.  I did stop in Southboro at the Breakneck Hill Conservation Land to see if there were any birds in the thicket by the parking lot.  Not much moving around....but I'll share what I saw.      It was nice to see the Belted Galloway cattle (aka Belties).

There is a relatively new sign at the trailhead warning dog walkers that they need to have control of their dogs, or they may lose dog walking privileges.  It says something to the effect that it is not a dog park, but a park for all to enjoy.  I like that sign!

 House Finch (male)

 Belties (aka Oreo Cows)

 Blue Jay

Song Sparrow

The Belties are owned by a non-profit organization called The Breakneck Hill Cow Fund.  There are about 15 cows, and this non-profit group fundraises to provide hay for them.  If you would like to make a donation to help feed the Belties, click here.
