Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge - Part 2

Part 1 was limited to the Downy Woodpecker "bird of the day" we saw at Great Meadows.  This post will include everything else!!!  I love the variety of things that we saw, from plants and foliage to insects and water birds!  I also saw a beautiful Common Yellowthroat but could not get a clear photo of it as it was too deep in the brush.  Click here if you want to see a photo of one from earlier this year.

We also saw:
Monarchs - 6 (flying)
Clouded Sulphur - 1
Grey Catbirds - 2
Canada Geese - 12+

 Buttonbush fruit

Marsh Marigolds

Great Blue Heron

 Fall is near!

Pearl Crescent (we saw 12+)

 Climbing False Buckwheat

 American Crow

 Dragonfly (unknown variety)

More Fall Colors - are you ready?

 Eastern Painted Turtle

 Pearl Crescent

 Grasshopper
