Hooded Merganser

I checked the Sudbury Reservoir in Southboro this morning and was happy to spot a Hooded Merganser among the Canada geese there.

The geese and the merganser were busy washing and preening.  Once the merganser was finished, he began diving.  The area of water that was open was very small.

Also, there was a nice flock of Eastern Bluebirds along the shore.  It was chilly this morning - low 20s.  Felt like winter for the first time in a long time.  My hands did get cold after standing on the shore for a while.  Usually, I don't feel the cold......but maybe that's because it just hasn't been cold!

The Northern Mockingbird was in its usual perch, protecting a nice supply of Bittersweet (my guess).
