Massachusetts Audubon Waseeka Wildlife Sanctuary

Took a short lunchtime hike at Mass Audubon's Waseeka Wildlife Sanctuary in Hopkinton, MA.   There's definitely more traffic to get through to get to the sanctuary now that work on Legacy Farms is in full swing.

I love hummingbirds at my feeder.  It's even more special to find them nectaring in the garden.  Ultimately, it is most exciting to find them out in their native environment, nectaring from wildflowers.  Who knew that Queen Anne's Lace would provide much of a drink?  I wouldn't have expected it!  [Click on any photo to enlarge it.]

Wildflowers are in bloom.

I was hoping there'd be more butterflies, but it was pretty quiet.  The trail near the water is not too well mowed, so take bug spray to protect yourself from ticks!
