Uncooperative Butterflies

The sun was out, but it was breezy and cool today.  The butterflies I saw today were uncooperative, and I didn't get any good photos.

Black Swallowtail

These orange flowers are about 8-10 feet high.  This was one of the lower ones.

Peck's Skipper (I think) Zabulon Skipper (female)

Another weird angle.

Even from this additional side view, I can't get a firm ID on it.

Oh, well, the Cabbage Whites were a bit more cooperative.  But who cares about that species, right?

Uncooperative butterflies.....yes, it happens.  Luckily, it is not the norm.  Otherwise, this hobby would not be as much fun!

  1. Much as I always long for the perfect shot, or even just any shot of some butterflies, wouldn't it be boring if butterflies just landed and opened their wings for a picture every time?!!
    It's all about the chase!
