Meandering in the Meadow

Today's walks were in Southboro:  Morning was at Breakneck Hill Conservation Land, and lunch was at Chestnut Hill Farm.  I put off my errands until tomorrow, when downpours are predicted.  Had to get my nature in today!

European Skipper

Sulphur Cinquefoil
(I love the heart-shaped petals!)

 Peck's Skipper

Barn Swallow
(testing my reaction time - they are very fast flyers and change direction often)

Bobolink (male)

Bladder Campion

I had to stop and say hello to some cows that were the meadow adjacent to the parking lot.  I haven't noticed them there before.  They were so gentle looking and have such beautiful eyes!

  1. I like the European Skipper. It looks very bright. Not something I normally associate with skippers!

    1. Hi Nick,
This species originates in Europe. Do you have it? It was accidentally imported to Ontario, Canada in 1910! I thought it was similar to a Least Skipper, but larger....

  2. I like the Bladder Campion. You caught both the bud and flower. The cows are always pretty.
