Showy Ladyslippers at Garden in the Woods

I walked for a couple hours this afternoon at Garden in the Woods.  I've been a member there for a couple years, and this was the first time I saw Showy Ladyslippers in bloom.  What a beautiful flower!  Such a nice surprise!

Ebony Jewelwing

unknown Iris variety

Baltimore Checkerspot caterpillar

Gray Catbird

Chipmunk

This little chipmunk was working hard to dig something out of the rocks in the path.  It would not run when I approached.  It was too intent on its conquest.  Once it had extricated the nut, off it ran into the gardens.

Mountain Laurel is just starting to bloom.

Canada Bunchberry

Turkey Beard

The other showstopper of this visit had to be the lupine.
