Florida Woodpeckers

I had good luck finding a variety of woodpeckers during my visit to Florida.  Although I saw a fly-by Northern Flicker, I missed getting a photo.  I missed two Florida species:  the Hairy Woodpecker and the Red-Cockaded Woodpecker.

Here are the varieties I was able to photograph:

  Downy Woodpecker

Red-Bellied Woodpecker (my most common woodpecker sighting)

Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker

Pileated Woodpecker (Corkscrew Swamp)

Pileated Woodpecker (Ding Darling NWR)

Red-Headed Woodpecker (juveniles have brown heads)
