Hooded Mergansers

I stopped at Hopkinton State Park (surprise!) this morning.  The light was pretty as the sun burned through the haze.  I didn't see any birds, but I could hear Northern Cardinals and Tufted Titmice calling in the woods.

I then headed over to the Sudbury River, near Burnham's Supper Club, to get a photo of the river.  I lucked out and found three Hooded Mergansers (two males and one female) in a small patch of open water right next to the bridge!  There was a lot of birdsong in the trees along the river.   I dare say it almost sounded like spring!
