Belted Kingfisher at Waseeka Wildlife Sanctuary

I took my lunch break at Waseeka Wildlife Sanctuary today.  It was cold, especially once I was out on the dam with the wind coming off the water.  Ice was beginning to form along the edges of the water.

I had some nice views of a Belted Kingfisher, saw a lone Lesser Scaup and two male and one female Hooded Mergansers.

Most of the snow is melted, except for low spots on the forest floor.  Also, I found some pretty frosty leaves in the shaded area near the water.

It was good to get out in the fresh air, even though I could have used another layer over my gloves.

Belted Kingfisher

 Lesser Scaup (my best guess)

Hooded Merganser (male)
