Alyeska Tram and Glacier Stop

We took the tram at Alyeska up to the top of the mountain.  People were para sailing off the mountain, landing in the meadow below and then returning to the tram for more runs.

Interesting sign!

a tattered Milbert's Tortoiseshell

There were Western White butterflies flying around the base of the tram, but none of them would cooperate for a photo!  Life butterfly!

We came back to this area again to take a helicopter to land on Lake George Glacier.  It was a fun ride (I wasn't sure about doing it), and the glacier was amazing to see and stand on.  I saw a bear from the helicopter.  We loved the deep blue ice of the glaciers.

  1. Great scenery. I particularly (obviously!!) like the Milbert's Tortoiseshell. Subtly different from the Tortoiseshell we get here, but a nicer blend of colours, too!

    1. I looked up the Small Tortoiseshell to see how it compares. I like the blue edge on it!
