House Finches

Last year, for the first time in 12 years, this weed appeared in my garden and spread like wildfire.  When I tried to pull it, seeds would "pop" out of it in every direction.  I dubbed it the popcorn weed because of its seed spreading technique.  This year, it's back again, but there is a positive.  Because of this weed (and its seeds), the little house finch pair from next door paid a visit!

Thank you, little finches, for helping control the weeds in my garden!  Thank you, pesky little weeds, for bringing the finches to my garden!
