Hooded Merganser - Male
As I crossed the bridge over the Sudbury River where Cordaville Road and Pleasant Street meet in Ashland, Massachusetts, I looked East off the bridge and spotted a Hooded Merganser. Luckily I had my camera with me, so I immediately parked, crossed over to Marathon Park and snapped this photo.
This small fish-eating duck immediately began swimming away and finally took cover in the reeds. But not before I had my first confirmed sighting and photograph! A great lunch break!
