Sunset Walk at BHCL

I walked at Waseeka Wildlife Sanctuary today at lunch.  The leaves were pretty.  There were a couple of Hooded Mergansers way out on the water, an Eastern Phoebe, Red-Bellied Woodpecker, and Blue Jays to entertain me, but I didn't get any good photos.

Wish this was in focus, but how cool was that?

 I see you!

After work, I had a lovely walk at Breakneck Hill Conservation Land, watching the sun sink into the horizon.  There were Yellow-Rumped Warblers and Palm Warblers galore, and one Palm Warbler landed on a tree right next to me and hopped closer and closer all after my CAMERA BATTERY DIED.  I also saw a Hermit Thrush hopping along the trail.   I didn't have a spare battery on me, either,  and the sun was casting some beautiful light on the fall leaves.  I hurried back to the parking lot and changed my battery, but....most of the good stuff was gone.  No more warblers.  Sunset was past peak.  Oh well!  I saw it, and I loved it!!!

 Love those clouds

and autumn colors have definitely taken over from summer

River Bend Farm and other stops

River Bend Farm, Uxbridge:

I love walking along the canal, and although the leaves were past peak here, it was still so pretty.

 Guess what kind of warbler!?

Rice City Pond, Uxbridge:

There was a Great Egret here, but it was only visible from a very narrow, very busy bridge with no area for pedestrians, so I did not get a photo.

Mass Audubon's Stony Brook Wildlife Refuge, Norfolk:
